Basque in the moonlight while enjoying the peaceful and serine mountain setting - all while getting some great exercise - by joining us on Moonlight Snowshoe Tours at Northstar California! During the 2 to 2.5 hour tour, guides will lead guests through a variety of trails and terrain. There will be 2 to 3 different routes ranging in difficulty and distance so you can chose the group you’re most comfortable with. After conquering the terrain you’ll return to the Cross-Country Ski, Telemark & Snowshoe Center for some live acoustic music, s'mores and hot chocolate around one of our fire pits under the moonlight. After you've had time to relax, the group will trek down the last 1/2 mile to the Village at Northstar™ where the tour will end. Dogs on leashes are welcome to join in the fun! Cost Adults (13+): $40 Children (10 - 12): $25 Note: We have limited the ages of children to 10 and above to keep the group moving at a steady pace. Clothing Attire + Equipment Please make sure to wear warm and waterproof shoes and clothing. We recommend snow boots to keep your feet warm and multiple layers of clothing so you can adjust for your temperature during the hike. 3-day AIARE certified avalanche safety course. The class follows the AIARE curriculum and is taught by AMGA guides. Students will learn how to interpret terrain, snow conditions and weather to determine avalanche risk. Students will also learn how to interpret avalanche bulletins, how to use a beacon, search and rescue techniques and how to dig a snow study pit.

The Toyota Sick N' Twisted Freestyle Tour returns to Tahoe with its first stop this weekend. The tour, sponsored by SnowBomb, hits four North Lake Tahoe resorts throughout the winter. The tour pits skiers and snowboarders against each other to compete in rail jams, slopestyle competitions, and big air contests. An amateur class is available for those competing for gear while the open class competition goes for cash. Don't forget the helmet; it's required.

Come take advantage of the Tahoe dark skis this winter with star guide and poet Tony Berendsen during Star Gazing Snowshoe Tours at Northstar California. Every tour is as different as the starry skies above however each will include a poem reading, a fun space quiz, a laser tour of the stars and constellations, a telescopic viewing using top of the line Celestron telescopes and wine and hot cider around a fire pit. All tours will begin at 5:00 p.m. and will depart from the Cross-Country Ski, Telemark & Snowshoe Center. During the 2 to 2.5 hour tour, Tony will lead you through some of our snowshoe trails including challenging, rolling terrain all while chatting about the wonders of the sky. After, you'll snowshoe backto the Cross-Country Ski, Telemark &Snowshoe Center for the laser tour, telescope viewing, wine and hot cider around one of our fire pits. After you've had time to relax, the group will snowshoe down the last 1/2 mile to the Village at Northstar™ where the tour will end. Dogs on leashes are welcome! • Rossignol Skate Ski Clinic – this event is taking place at the Cross-Country Ski, Telemark & Snowshoe Center on Saturday February 18, 2012 from 11am to 1pm. The clinic will cover the basics of skate skiing technique before taking a closer look at the subtleties of efficiency and the use of technique through varied terrain. The clinic is free but participants are responsible for their own trail pass.

Grab the kids and join us for our Family Afternoon Snowshoe Tours taking place at Northstar California this winter season. These tours are a wonderful way to introduce your little ones to the great outdoors in a fun, unintimidating, friendly atmosphere. The tours are open to all ages and will be an easy snowshoe for the whole family. Tours will begin at the Cross-Country Ski, Telemark & Snowshoe Center at 1:00 p.m. and will last approximately 3 hours. Your guide will lead you on a snowshoe adventure through some of our easier trails to a historic red caboose set in an alpine meadow for hot chocolate, cookies, and candy cane treats! Snowshoes are not provided with the tour so bring your own if you have them. There will be snowshoes available for rent along with sleds for children who get tired. Snowshoe rentals are $25 for adults and $13 for children. Sled rentals are $15 for the entire tour.
