TAHOE STAR TOURS at THE DARK SKIES COSMOARIUM
Experience the wonder and awe of the dark skies above Northstar California during our popular summer Tahoe Star Tours!
The annual summer series is back at its viewing venue, the Dark Skies Cosmoarium, for those who want to learn about and experience the night sky Thursday and Saturday evenings, June 16 through September 3, 2016.
Every tour is as different as the starry skies above, and each features an informative Star Tour Astronomy presentation, a laser tour of the sky, and telescopic viewing using state-of-the-art computerized Celestron telescopes, all while gathered around a fire pit enjoying warm treats. And you won’t leave empty handed – all guests will earn the status of “Star Guide” along with a badge that you can take home to remember your experiences. And new this year Tahoe Star Tours will incorporate use of Celestron’s newest technology, optimized for photography, and will include an astro imaging demonstration allowing stargazers to take pictures of what they’re viewing in space and share them through their own social media networks.
Offering convenient access for guests lodging or visiting the resort, the Cosmoarium is located near the entrance to Northstar on the lower level of the Castle Peak parking area. Featuring wide, unobstructed horizons for viewing, it provides Tahoe Star Tours participants with comfortable seating, fire pits, outdoor heaters and blankets, complimentary hot chocolate, Starbucks coffee, s’mores, and Aquafina water as well as convenient, free on-site parking just a short walk from the viewing site.
Star Guide extraordinaire, Tony Berendsen, owner of Tahoe Star Tours is an award-winning amateur astronomer, past President of the Northern Nevada Science Coalition, and The Astronomical Society of Nevada.
