Are your kids looking for some exciting opportunities to meet friends and grow as mountain bikers? This year’s Trailblazer Camps will be the best summer fun your 10-16 year olds have ever had. Your kid will spend the day with like-minded riders while being overseen by some of Lake Tahoe’s best bike coaches. Our coaches will teach your kids how to make the most of the Northstar Bike Park. Groups will be created based on ability, so whether they're here to learn the basics or prepare for race day, we’ll have them covered.

Learn from Mitch Ropelato's and Team Geronimo's coach Gene Hamilton! BetterRide is putting on a 3-day downhill mountain bike camp at Northstar California. This is an amazing opportunity to learn from one of the most experienced coaches in the sport. Learn to rail corners like Mitch Ropelato, fly through rock gardens like Graeme Pitts and race like Greg Minnaar.
You will learn the core, fundamental skills of downhill mountain bike riding and racing. These core skills are not intuitive, unless someone taught you them it is unlikely that would know and understand them. BetterRide coaches get the rider to understand these techniques with drills and then on trail application of the skills. You will also learn drills that you can take home with you for further practice and improvement.

"I learned more in this camp than in my entire career to date. The changes to my body position and cornering have already made me much faster." Andrew Pierce, Go-Ride Factory Team
"My first run down the mountain was on a trail that I had ridden many times before. Gene was following me half way down (to see if I was really paying attention) and it was my best run ever!!! That one run alone was worth the fee for the clinic, I was so impressed with what I had learned so far!" - Norba expert racer Chris Shelley
Here is what 2009 Pro 4x and Jr. Cat 1 Downhill US National Champion Mitch Ropelato said in a interview in the Oct. 2009 issue of DIRT Magazine:
Dirt Magazine: "You seem to be able to turn amazingly, what do you put that down to? Got any special tires on there?
Mitch Ropelato: " Ya, Gene Hamilton is to thank for that, I took is clinic last December in Bootleg Canyon and he was able to show me the correct technique I needed to pull them off."
Gene Hamilton founded BetterRide in 1998 to provide structured, professional mtb skills coaching to racers of all ages. Gene is a licensed USA Cycling Expert Coach and has over 17 years of coaching experience including 11 years coaching mountain biking. His coaching highlights include coaching many top pro racers (Chris Van Dine, Eli Krahenbuhl, Mitch Ropelato, Joey Schusler, Graeme Pitts,...) top junior experts (4 of the 6 racers on the US Worlds Team in 2008, 2 in 2009 ...). Gene is a pretty good racer too, in 15 seasons as a pro downhill racer he has won Silver (2002) and two Bronze Medals (2006, 1999) at the UCI World Masters Championships.
