Rafting Down The Truckee River
The Truckee River begins near Carson Pass and flows into Lake Tahoe, where water is released through a dam at Tahoe City.  Rafting down the river can be described as a scenic, easy float. A more challenging area of the river is where the Truckee and Little Truckee rivers meet below Boca Reservoir, which is mostly Class II and III with one Class IV rapid. The water is liveliest when the snow melts in May and June, but rafting is usually possible until early October.  Area rafting companies include:

Tahoe Whitewater Tours - 800-442-7238, 303 Alpine Meadows Rd, off Hwy 89, Tahoe City

Truckee River Raft Company - 530-583-0123, Tahoe City, across from the Chevron Station
