Northstar has built its reputation as a well-rounded mountain by offering the right blend of terrain to keep all skill levels happy, as well as a host of off-mountain activities to keep non-skiers/boarders busy all day long with tons of fun things to do!
In addition to an exceptional snow base and great ski conditions, some of the assets that make Northstar the best family area of the region are its wide-open, cruising terrain and its protection from the wind making for the most consistent slope conditions under all kinds of weather.
With the new Village at Northstar, the whole mountain has now what it takes to be vaulted into the close circle of world-class winter resorts!

The entire Lake Tahoe area is a constellation of mountain resorts. One the closest to Northstar is Squaw Valley, host of the 1960 Winter Olympics. Nearby, a few miles up the road, is Alpine Meadows.
Still on the Lake’s North Shore, Mt. Rose remains Reno’s favorite. On the opposite shore, Heavenly straddles California and Nevada, while about 45 minutes away, Kirkwood boast some of the best extreme terrain in the Sierras.
